The makers of one of the most popular online graphic design platforms recently introduced a set of new products for the modern connected workforce during a company event in Sydney last week dubbed “Canva Create 2022.”

Some of Canva’s new offerings go beyond its core design product but are still aimed at enhancing productivity and collaboration.

The company said that its new work suite tools are designed to empower anyone to visually communicate from anywhere in the world, on any device.

According to Melanie Perkins, Canva co-founder and CEO, visual communication has become a critical skill for work teams of every size across every type of industry.

“It has been incredible to see the continued growth of Canva over the last few years, as more and more people embrace the power of visual communication to unlock their creativity and achieve their goals. With the launch of our new Visual Worksuite, we’re bringing simple design products to the workplace to empower every employee, at every organization, and on every device,” Perkins said.

The company timed its unveiling as Canva marked a milestone – that of having 85 million users from around the world who create over 180 designs every second using its graphics platform.

Canva’s popularity transcends across business organizations of all sizes. In fact, 4.4 million paying customers of its Canva for Teams, including those comprising 85% of Fortune 500 companies, use the software for their design requirements.

One such leading company that has heaped praises on Canva is CRM software heavyweight Salesforce. Its VP for Social and Content Marketing, Marisa Kraines, says: “Canva has been an invaluable tool for our business, transforming how our creative and social teams work with one another by making it easier for staff to create new designs in a way that maintains brand consistency.”

She added: “It’s also enabled our team to scale best practices when it comes to visual communications across the company, ensuring that we can create compelling content across all of our social and owned channels.”

The products and tools unveiled at the “Canva Create” event include the following:

This aims to make traditional text documents more visually appealing. The company said it is not meant to go head-to-head with Google Docs or Microsoft’s Office Suite but as a visual alternative to them for the modern workplace. The product comes with real-time collaboration and commenting features as well as access to Canva’s massive library of over a million design assets. Another nifty feature is the capability to transform Canva Docs into non-text Canva Presentation at the click of a button.

It provides a hybrid method to encourage productivity and collaboration, especially for distributed teams.

The current Canva Video Suite is an improvement of the original video tool of 2019. The present iteration levels up video creation. It makes producing slick video content easier and faster without the need for big budgets and sophisticated software. This expands on the product print offerings of Canva making the process simpler and more sustainable. At present, more than 35 products including posters, invitations, flyers, photo books, etc. can be made through Canva Print and delivered to your doorstep. To make it a nature-friendly undertaking, Canva will plant a tree for each print order placed via its One Print, One Tree reforestation program. Per Canva’s figures, over 2.4 million trees have already been planted and a further 5 million more are to be planted by year’s end.

Data Visualization

Canva’s acquisition early this year of Flourish, a UK data visualization startup, further widened its reach and enlarged its customer base since Flourish will be bringing in 800,000 customers. The tool is capable of transforming statistics and dense data into clear and simple interactive visual presentations or animations that are easier to share and understand.

Remote Control for Presentations

Canva’s Presentation tool now allows remote presentation control which enables multiple hosts or presenters to control the flow of their visual aids and displays from any device with the use of a new virtual clicker.
