The artificial intelligence chatbot of Bing already has a long list of capabilities like impersonating famous people and answering questions in their voice. Now, it can create images from your words.

In a recent announcement, Microsoft said it was bringing in the Bing Image Creator – a new Knowledge Card and visual Stories tool – to the new Edge and Bing preview.

The feature is powered by a DALL-E model advanced version from Microsoft’s partner makers OpenAI. It lets you generate an image by describing in words what you want to see. From Bing’s chat, you can now create visual as well as written content in one place.

Microsoft cited research that revealed the human brain can process visual information some 60,000 times faster than text. This makes visual tools important means for people to create, search, and gain understanding.

Bing’s data shows that images are second to general web searches when it comes to the most searched categories. Search was normally confined to existing Web images but with the Image Creator, you’re not limited to what you can create and search for.

For those already in the Bing preview, the Image Creator will be fully integrated into Bing’s chat through the Creative Mode. The Image Creator preview will also be made available in Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft’s browser will be the first of its kind with a built-in AI-powered image generator. To use it in Edge, simply click on the Bing Image Creator icon in the sidebar to create your image or prompt Bing chat in Edge.
