Apple Reimagines Old Logo For New Retail Store Opening

Apple will be opening its Apple American Dream store this December and teased the event with a present-day interpretation of its 1977 rainbow-colored logo.

The store is located at The American Dream Mall which is the second-largest US shopping center. It is in East Rutherford, New Jersey, a 24-minute drive from New York City.

On the Apple website, only the store hours and a few product images are shown. There are no pictures of the new store.

But what caught the attention of visitors is the colorful logo bannered on the front page of the website, reminiscent of the Apple logo that first came out 45 years ago.

The original logo was a multi-colored 2D image with the word “apple” in lowercase nudged in. It was created in two weeks by graphic designer Rob Janoff.

The designer was brought in by Steve Jobs to come up with a logo fit to be put on the Apple II computers that were launched in April 1977.

That logo would be used until 1984 when Landor & Associates was hired to do some modifications. The Apple font was changed but the name was completely removed from the logo whose shape and colors were also tweaked.

Forward to today, the new stylish rendition presents the Apple logo in 3D with its colored stripes connected in a spiral.

There is no word if this latest logo is for keeps. If it is then it would be the seventh makeover in the evolution of the Apple Inc. logo.
